On November 9 in 1986 two activists from the radical environmental group Sea Shepherd flew to Iceland to carry out the only action which has been characterized as a successful terrorists act in Iceland,
the sinking of two whaling vessels in Reykjavik harbour. The action has been described as the "9/11 of Iceland".
1986年11月9日、アイスランドにやってきた過激な環境保護団体シーシェパードの活動家2人が、レイキャビク港の捕鯨船2隻を沈没させるという、
アイスランド史上初めて成功したテロ攻撃を実行した。この事件は後に「アイスランドの911テロ」と呼ばれることになる。
